Sasho Cirovski is the head men's soccer coach at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, where he has led the program since 1993 and built it into one of the most successful teams in Division I soccer. A longtime Maryland coach and Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, he has guided the Terrapins to NCAA championships in 2005, 2008, and 2018, nine College Cup appearances, and 17 conference titles across the ACC and Big Ten. His tenure has also produced a long record of NCAA Tournament berths, major individual awards, and professional players, placing him among the most accomplished coaches in the history of the college game.
Cirovski arrived at Maryland after two seasons as head coach at Hartford. Before that, he worked as an assistant at his alma mater, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and also spent time as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Wave. At Hartford, he posted back-to-back 13-6-3 records in 1991 and 1992 and led the Hawks to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, a first for that program. Maryland hired him in 1993 to revive a team that had reached the NCAA Tournament only once in the previous 16 years. His impact showed quickly. In 1994, just his second season, Maryland went 14-6-1, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and recorded the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 1969.
