Sam Marder serves as the associate head coach for the University of Oregon softball program and has been a key figure on Melyssa Lombardi’s staff since 2022. Widely regarded as one of the top offensive minds in collegiate softball, Marder played a central role in Oregon’s historic 2025 season, which culminated in a Big Ten regular-season championship and a return to the Women’s College World Series. Under her guidance, the Ducks produced one of the most prolific offenses in the nation, ranking among the top teams nationally in hits, scoring, batting average, and power categories. Her impact earned her recognition as the 2025 Easton/NFCA National Assistant Coach of the Year.
Before arriving in Eugene, Marder built an impressive coaching résumé with stops at Oklahoma, Texas Tech, College of Charleston, and Boise State, consistently elevating offensive production at each program. A former standout player at Ohio State, she was a three-time All-American and later earned National Pro Fastpitch Offensive Player of the Year honors during her professional career. Known for her expertise in developing hitters and catchers, Marder has helped Oregon produce All-Americans and record-setting performances while maintaining a consistent presence among the nation’s top offensive programs.
