Sam King begins his first season at Central Washington University in 2026 as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, bringing a diverse offensive background and experience across multiple NCAA levels. Prior to joining CWU, King spent the 2025 season at Washington State University as an assistant quarterbacks coach, where he contributed to a 7–6 campaign capped by a Famous Idaho Potato Bowl victory. Under his guidance, the Cougars’ quarterbacks combined for over 2,700 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, while also excelling academically, highlighted by Zevi Eckhaus earning Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.
King previously spent six seasons at the University of North Dakota as wide receivers coach, helping guide the program to four FCS playoff appearances and developing multiple all-conference and nationally recognized players. His units consistently contributed to efficient and productive passing offenses within the competitive Missouri Valley Football Conference. Earlier in his career, King worked as a graduate assistant at Minnesota Duluth, where he helped engineer a dominant rushing attack and an undefeated regular season in 2018, as well as a prior stint at North Dakota as a quality control coach during a conference championship season. A graduate of Bemidji State with a master’s degree from Minnesota Duluth, King is known for his ability to develop skill position players and contribute to balanced, high-performing offenses.
