Ryan Wright joined the Gonzaga University baseball staff in July 2025 and will begin his first season with the Bulldogs in 2026. He brings valuable professional development experience from Major League Baseball’s minor league system, having spent five years with the Toronto Blue Jays organization as a hitting coach for the Vancouver Canadians. During his tenure, Wright played a key role in developing offensive talent, helping multiple players reach the major leagues and contributing to a highly successful stretch for the franchise. In 2023, the Canadians captured the Northwest League championship with a league-best record, while consistently contending for titles during his time on staff.
Prior to his professional coaching career, Wright gained experience at the collegiate and summer league levels. He served as a head coach in summer leagues with the Kelowna Falcons and Spearfish Sasquatch, and as an assistant coach at Montana State University Billings, where he helped guide the program to multiple conference championships and its first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance. A former collegiate player, Wright competed at several programs including Boise State, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in kinesiology. He later earned a master’s degree in public relations, combining academic achievement with a diverse coaching background that supports his role in player development at Gonzaga.
