Ryan Schneider is the associate head coach for the University of Vermont men's basketball program in Burlington, Vermont, and a former Catamount player who has spent 13 seasons on the UVM staff, including the last five as associate head coach. He was elevated to that position before the 2021-22 season after earlier serving on Vermont's coaching staff beginning in 2013.
Since Schneider's promotion, Vermont has continued one of the most successful stretches in program history. The Catamounts won America East regular-season and tournament titles in 2021-22 and 2022-23, then completed a three-peat in the conference tournament in 2023-24. The 2023-24 team went 28-7 overall and 15-1 in league play, matched the second-highest win total in school history, tied the program record for non-conference victories, reached the championship game of the Myrtle Beach Invitational, and secured an eighth straight regular-season crown. In 2025-26, Vermont recorded its 17th consecutive 20-win season, excluding the shortened COVID year, and ranked near the top of the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio and effective field goal percentage while TJ Hurley earned America East Player of the Year honors.
