Ryan Nehlen is the assistant wide receivers coach and an offensive analyst for West Virginia University football in Morgantown, West Virginia. He returned to the Mountaineers in February 2024 after spending two seasons as tight ends coach at McNeese State. At West Virginia, his work has included offensive game analysis, film study, practice and game charting, practice scheduling, oversight of the walk-on program, management of offensive graduate assistants and student coaches, recruiting support, and coordination for the program's high school coaches clinic.
Nehlen previously served on the West Virginia staff as an offensive analyst from 2018 to July 2022, a period in which the program reached bowl games three times in four seasons. Before and after that stretch, he held coaching roles at several other programs, including two years as a graduate assistant at Michigan, where he worked with the offensive staff in 2016 and the defensive staff in 2017. Michigan won 10 games in his first season there. His earlier stops included Marshall as an offensive graduate assistant, Glenville State as receivers coach in 2015, and Akron as a graduate assistant in 2014.
