Ryan Gipson is an assistant coach for the Oregon State baseball program and a former Beaver student-athlete who was part of the program’s 2006 national championship team. Since joining the staff in 2018, Gipson has played an integral role in developing one of the most productive offenses in college baseball. Under his guidance, Oregon State has consistently ranked among the top teams in the Pac-12 in key offensive categories, including batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, and runs scored. His work has contributed to multiple postseason appearances and the development of elite players, including No. 1 overall MLB Draft pick Travis Bazzana. Gipson has also mentored several All-Americans and helped the program set single-season records in home runs and offensive production.
Prior to returning to Corvallis, Gipson served as the head coach at Linn-Benton Community College, where he built a dominant program and compiled an impressive overall record. His teams achieved remarkable success, including a 42-4 season in 2018 and a .672 winning percentage across four years. Gipson’s coaching career also includes time as an assistant at Dixie State and as an undergraduate coach at Oregon State. As a player, he was a versatile infielder who contributed to back-to-back College World Series appearances, including the 2006 title run. Known for his strong baseball acumen and player development skills, Gipson continues to shape Oregon State’s offensive identity while maintaining deep ties to the program’s championship tradition.
