Ryan Garrett is the wide receivers coach for the West Virginia football program in Morgantown, West Virginia, and he is in his second year on the Mountaineers' staff. He joined Rich Rodriguez at WVU in 2025, marking the third time he had worked on one of Rodriguez's staffs after earlier stops at Louisiana-Monroe and Jacksonville State.
Before arriving at West Virginia, Garrett coached wide receivers at Jacksonville State from 2022 through 2024. His time there included three successful seasons as the Gamecocks moved through a period of transition and growth. Jacksonville State went 9-2 and won the 2022 ASUN Conference title in his first season. In 2023, the program went 9-4 in its first year at the FBS level and capped the season with a victory in the New Orleans Bowl. In 2024, the Gamecocks finished 9-5, won the Conference USA championship and reached a second straight bowl game. That season, Jacksonville State ranked among the national leaders in several offensive categories, including rushing, first downs, scoring and total offense. Receiver Cam Vaughn posted 49 receptions for 804 yards and five touchdowns, while Perry Carter had led the team in receiving in 2023 and earned All-Conference USA honorable mention.
