Ryan Carty is the head football coach at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. A Delaware alumnus and former Blue Hens quarterback, he was appointed in December 2021 and signed a contract extension in January 2025 that keeps him at the school through the 2030 season. Carty was a member of Delaware's 2003 national championship team and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in management.
Through the 2025 season, Delaware went 33-17 under Carty. His first two teams each won an FCS first-round playoff game, and from 2022 through 2024 the Blue Hens posted at least eight wins in three straight seasons for the first time since 1995-97. Delaware also recorded back-to-back nine-win seasons in 2023 and 2024 for the first time since 2003-04. His 25th victory came in a 2024 win over Rhode Island, tying him with David Nelson as the third-fastest Delaware coach to reach that mark. Under Carty, the program produced 45 all-conference selections and seven All-Americans, while also posting strong academic results with 301 conference academic honor roll honorees, 22 CSC Academic All-District selections, and three Campbell Trophy semifinalists.
