Rory Twomey is an assistant coach for the University of Vermont men's soccer program in Burlington, Vermont, a position he assumed in the summer of 2023 after spending one season as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence. In his first season back on the Vermont staff in 2023, the Catamounts went 13-6-2, reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year, and finished No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25. Vermont earned an at-large NCAA bid, defeated Rider in the opening round, then beat No. 12 UCF in overtime before its tournament run ended against No. 5 West Virginia.
Before returning to Vermont, Twomey was part of a St. Lawrence staff that led the Saints to another Liberty League title and a trip to the second round of the Division III NCAA Tournament in 2022, finishing 13-2-6 overall and 6-0-3 in league play. He previously worked at Vermont in 2020-21 and 2021, first as director of operations and then as an assistant coach. Over those two seasons, the Catamounts compiled an 18-7-2 record and won the 2021 America East championship with a 1-0 victory over New Hampshire.
