Ron Whitcomb is the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the University at Buffalo football program in Buffalo, New York, and he entered his sixth season on the Bulls' staff in 2025. After working with both tight ends and quarterbacks during his time at Buffalo, he serves on the offensive staff under head coach Pete Lembo.
Whitcomb joined Buffalo in 2020 as scouting coordinator and offensive analyst after 12 seasons at Old Dominion, where he coached quarterbacks. At Buffalo, his tight ends have contributed both in the passing game and in run support. In 2024, the Bulls finished 9-4 and beat Liberty in the Bahamas Bowl, while the tight end group helped support a rushing attack that produced 2,457 yards, the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. Jake Orlando led Buffalo tight ends that year with 11 receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns. In 2022, the position combined for 32 catches and 300 yards, with Robbie Mangas recording 16 receptions for 141 yards, the most catches by a Buffalo tight end since 2019. Trevor Borland and Nicholas Fronczak earned Academic All-MAC recognition that season. In 2021, Buffalo tight ends totaled 27 receptions for 276 yards and three touchdowns, their best production since 2018, and both Jake Molinich and Borland were named Academic All-MAC. Whitcomb also was on staff for Buffalo's Camellia Bowl win over Georgia Southern, the program's third bowl victory.
