Ron Roberts
Executive Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator
Ron Roberts entered Florida’s staff in January 2024 and moves into his second season with the Gators in 2025 as Executive Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. In year one, he helped spark Florida’s late-season surge to an 8–5 finish capped by a Gasparilla Bowl win over Tulane, part of a closing stretch that included victories over ranked opponents. Defensively, the Gators jumped across the board from 2023 to 2024—finishing top-15 nationally in red-zone defense, sacks per game, fumbles recovered and turnovers gained, while logging at least one takeaway in 12 of 13 contests. Linebacker Myles Graham earned Freshman All-SEC recognition as Roberts’ unit set the tone down the stretch.
Florida Gators
A 30-plus-year coaching veteran, Roberts brought SEC and national experience to Gainesville after coordinating defenses at Auburn (2023), Baylor (2020–22) and Louisiana (2018–19), where his units were known for disruptive, turnover-producing play. He previously served successful head-coaching stints at Southeastern Louisiana (2012–17), capturing back-to-back Southland titles, and at Delta State (2007–11), reaching the 2010 NCAA Division II Championship Game and winning four Gulf South crowns. Earlier stops included coordinator roles at Texas State and Tusculum and high-school head-coaching experience in California. A former linebacker at College of the Sequoias and UT-Martin, Roberts is widely regarded for defensive structure, player development and program building—traits that have traveled with him across each stop and now underpin Florida’s defensive identity.
