Ron Farina
Head Coach
Ron Farina has served as the head coach of the NJIT men’s swimming and diving program since the 2018–19 season, bringing decades of Division I coaching and program-building experience to the Highlanders. During his tenure at NJIT, Farina has guided the program to two ECAC Winter Championship titles and earned ECAC Winter Championship Coach of the Meet honors twice. Under his leadership, NJIT has competed at the CCSA and CSCAA postseason meets, marking continued progress for the program at the Division I level. His approach emphasizes competitive excellence, athlete development, and sustained academic achievement.
Before arriving at NJIT, Farina spent one season as an assistant coach at Lafayette College and previously served as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs at Seton Hall University for 17 years. At Seton Hall, he oversaw one of the most successful stretches in program history, producing 203 All-Big East selections, 34 Big East individual champions, and teams that broke 156 school records. Academically, his programs earned 34 consecutive semesters of CSCAA Academic All-America recognition and totaled 459 Big East Academic All-Star selections. Farina’s coaching background also includes assistant coaching roles at Rutgers and Virginia Tech, as well as founding the Liner Aquatics Club in New Jersey. A former standout swimmer at Rutgers, he was a six-time school record holder and later coached at his alma mater. Farina earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in sports management from East Stroudsburg University, combining elite competitive experience with long-standing success in collegiate coaching.
