Roman Owen is the head coach of the Quinnipiac University women's basketball program in Hamden, Connecticut, a position he assumed after being named to the role on April 7 following a national search.
Owen arrived at Quinnipiac after six seasons at UNLV, where he served on Lindy La Rocque's staff and was promoted to associate head coach in 2022. UNLV went 149-41 overall and 94-16 in conference play during his tenure, establishing itself as the Mountain West's top program. The Lady Rebels won four straight regular-season conference titles from 2021-22 through 2024-25, captured three consecutive Mountain West tournament championships from 2022 through 2024, and made three NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022, 2023, and 2024. In 2023, UNLV won a program-record 31 games and became one of only two teams in Mountain West history to finish conference play unbeaten. The program also reached the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since 1994, finishing No. 21 in 2023 and climbing as high as No. 20 in 2024. In 2025, UNLV secured another regular-season championship and recorded its first postseason win in more than 20 years with an opening-round victory in the WBIT.
