Rob McGann
Assistant Coach
Rob McGann joined the Auburn soccer staff as an assistant coach in January 2026 under head coach James Armstrong. He arrived on the Plains after two seasons at UTSA, where he served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During his time in San Antonio, McGann helped guide the Roadrunners to back-to-back winning seasons, highlighted by the program’s first-ever American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in 2025 and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. His tenure saw six players earn All-AAC honors and two garner United Soccer Coaches All-South Region recognition. At Auburn, McGann is tasked with spearheading the Tigers’ attacking philosophy and further developing the team’s possession-based style of play.
Prior to entering collegiate coaching, McGann spent more than a decade developing elite youth talent in Texas and England. He held leadership roles with Albion Hurricanes and Sting Austin, overseeing elite player development and coaching staff management, and also worked with Sheffield United as a talent identification scout and performance analyst. A native of Sheffield, England, McGann previously served in the British Army and represented the British Army Football Team before earning a degree in sport development with coaching from Sheffield Hallam University. He and his wife, Domonique, have one son, Henry, and are expecting a daughter.
