Robert Stephenson
Assistant Coach
Robert Stephenson begins his first season (2025-26) as Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the men’s lacrosse program at the University of Mary Washington. In this role, he leads the Eagles’ defensive unit and oversees the face-off group, while supporting recruiting communications, practice design, and game-day preparation.
Before joining Mary Washington, Stephenson served as Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Franklin Pierce University during the 2024-25 season, where his responsibilities included overseeing the defensive unit and goalies, coordinating recruiting and travel logistics, and assisting with practice and game planning. He also holds the role of Defensive Coordinator for the French national lacrosse programs (men’s field and box), contributing to the program’s highest-ever finish at the 2025 European Championships and supporting the launch of France’s first national box team. n
Stephenson graduated from Davis & Elkins College in 2024, where he competed in five seasons as a defenseman, appearing in 59 games with 32 starts, and earned Academic All-Conference honors every year.
