Robert Patzer
Assistant Coach
Robert Patzer joined the Seton Hall University women’s volleyball staff as an assistant coach on July 3, 2024, becoming part of head coach Shannon Thompson’s leadership team in South Orange. Patzer arrived after serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the women’s volleyball program, as well as assistant coach for the men’s volleyball team, at Merrimack College. During his time there, he helped guide the women’s team to its best record since transitioning to NCAA Division I. His responsibilities included opponent scouting alongside student-athletes, recruiting coordination, organizing team travel, conducting bi-weekly meetings, and designing and implementing practice plans.
Prior to Merrimack, Patzer was a graduate assistant coach at Daemen University, where he also enjoyed a successful collegiate playing career. A 6-foot-6 opposite hitter and setter, he recorded match highs of 20 kills, 43 assists, and 14 digs, demonstrating versatility and court awareness. Patzer graduated from Daemen in 2022 and transitioned directly into collegiate coaching. His blend of recruiting experience, administrative organization, and firsthand playing knowledge strengthens Seton Hall’s continued development and competitiveness within the BIG EAST Conference.
