Robert Gray has been a central figure in Gonzaga University’s men’s golf program for over two decades, serving as head coach and previously overseeing both the men’s and women’s teams. Entering his 26th season with the program and 18th as the men’s-only head coach, Gray has guided Gonzaga to sustained improvement and record-setting performances. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs have achieved some of the lowest team scoring averages in program history and produced multiple standout individual performers. His coaching has helped elevate Gonzaga’s competitiveness within the West Coast Conference, including strong finishes at conference championships and tournament victories such as the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
Gray has also played a key role in developing individual talent, coaching players to NCAA Championship appearances and All-WCC honors. His athletes have set program records in scoring and earned recognition both on the course and in the classroom. Gonzaga golfers under his direction have consistently achieved academic success, with numerous All-American Scholars and Academic All-Conference honorees. A former collegiate golfer at Washington State and a PGA of America member, Gray combines professional playing experience with long-term coaching expertise. His tenure reflects a commitment to both athletic performance and academic achievement, helping shape Gonzaga’s men’s golf program into a respected and competitive presence.
