Riley Smith has served as an assistant coach for the University of Rhode Island women's lacrosse team in Kingston, Rhode Island, since September 2022, when she became head coach Jenna Slowey's first hire.
Smith joined Rhode Island after two seasons at the University of Delaware, where she worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Before Delaware, she spent four seasons at Wesleyan University as associate head women's lacrosse coach. Wesleyan posted a 36-14 record during her tenure and finished each of those four seasons ranked in the IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll. In 2019, Smith helped the program reach the Division III national semifinals, and in 2018 Wesleyan advanced to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight and earned its first NCAA tournament win.
