Rich Rodriguez is the head football coach at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, and returned to lead the Mountaineers for a second stint in 2025. One of the winningest active coaches at the Power Four level, Rodriguez has spent more than 30 years in coaching, including 28 seasons as a head coach, and has built a 194-137-2 record across six programs.
Rodriguez is widely associated with the no-huddle, zone-read, spread-option offense and began his head coaching career as the nation's youngest head coach at age 24. Over the course of his career, he has won nearly 60 percent of his games, earned conference or national coach of the year honors seven times, and led teams to 15 seasons with at least eight wins, five seasons with at least 10 wins, and 11 conference or division titles. His programs have reached 14 bowl games, including the 2006 Sugar Bowl, 2008 Fiesta Bowl and 2014 Fiesta Bowl, and he also took Glenville State to two NAIA Division I playoff appearances. His offenses have produced 10 conference players of the year, more than 30 All-Americans and 56 NFL players.
