Rich Munson
Head Swimming & Diving Coach
Rich Munson has led the Drew University men’s and women’s swimming & diving programs since the 2015–16 season, transforming both teams into Landmark Conference contenders. Over his tenure, all 46 school records have been broken, and both programs have achieved their highest finishes at the Landmark Conference Championships. The men’s team placed second four consecutive years from 2021–24, while the women captured their first-ever Landmark Conference title in 2022 under Munson’s leadership. His swimmers have earned conference Swimmer of the Year honors, NCAA Division III Championship appearances, All-America recognition, and multiple Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, reflecting excellence both in the pool and in the classroom.
Munson previously served as an assistant coach at NYU and Stevens Institute of Technology, helping produce numerous NCAA All-Americans and guiding teams to historic national finishes. A 2000 Seton Hall University graduate and former Division I swimmer in the Big East Conference, he began his coaching career after working in the financial sector. His leadership philosophy blends technical expertise with mentorship, emphasizing personal growth, academic achievement, and competitive success. A native of Maplewood, New Jersey, Munson resides in Morristown with his wife and two children.
