Rich Miller is the Associate Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, where he works with the track and field and cross country program. He entered his 30th season at UConn in 2024-25 and was named associate head coach 14 seasons earlier.
Miller coaches pole vaulters, multi-event athletes, and throwers. His recent athletes include Josh Mooney and Diarmuid O'Connor, who both earned second-team All-America honors in the decathlon. At the 2025 Outdoor BIG EAST Championships, Mooney was named the meet's most outstanding field athlete, and 12 UConn athletes won medals in the event groups Miller oversees. In 2024, O'Connor and Alyssa Elliot won the decathlon and heptathlon, respectively, and O'Connor went on to earn second-team All-America recognition at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Miller also coached Patrick Oatman to a personal best in the pole vault at the 2024 BIG EAST Championships.
