Richard Reece has been a cornerstone of the University of Washington men’s soccer program since 2005, recently completing his 20th season on the Husky sideline. During his tenure, he has helped UW secure three Pac-12 titles and 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four NCAA Quarterfinals and the 2021 National Final.
Reece specializes in goalkeeping and defensive coaching. He has developed six goalkeepers who went on to play in MLS, including Chris Eylander, Spencer Richey, and Jacob Castro. Notably, Ryan Herman became an All-American under Reece’s guidance. He also works with defenders, having coached several players drafted into MLS and all four of Washington’s Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year recipients: Spencer Richey (2012), Ethan Bartlow (2019), Charlie Ostrem (2020), and Ryan Sailor (2021).
