Rebecca Hewitt
Assistant Coach
Rebecca “Becca” Hewitt serves as an assistant coach for the Alabama A&M University softball program, bringing extensive head coaching experience and a strong playing background to Huntsville. A native of Claxton, Georgia, Hewitt was a standout multi-position player at Pinewood Christian Academy, earning All-Region and All-State honors during all five years of her high school career. She continued her collegiate playing career at South Georgia State, East Georgia State, Coastal Georgia, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Hewitt earned her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Georgia Southern University and later completed a master’s degree in Kinesiology.
Hewitt began her coaching career at the youth and high school levels before moving into the collegiate ranks. She served as an assistant coach at East Georgia State College in 2015 and was promoted to head coach a year later, compiling a 78-46 record from 2016 to 2019. She later led Middle Georgia State University to a 106-60 record, highlighted by a 43-14 season, a Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament championship, and an NAIA National Tournament berth. Most recently at Reinhardt University, she guided the program to a 40-plus win season, a top-25 national ranking, and both regular season and conference tournament titles, surpassing 200 career collegiate coaching victories.
