Phill Guard joined the University of Connecticut football staff in Storrs, Connecticut, in 2026 as assistant offensive line coach after serving as offensive line coach at The Citadel in 2025.
At The Citadel, Guard oversaw an offensive line that led the Southern Conference in rushing with 2,527 yards and 210.6 yards per game and ranked ninth in the FCS. He coached center Mike Bartilucci, winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy and an AFCA and AP All-American, and freshman tackle Brady Pickett, who earned Freshman All-America recognition from Phil Steele and Sports Illustrated.
