Pete Watson has served as Boston College's Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, since August 22, 2022, overseeing the school's track and cross country programs.
Watson arrived at Boston College after three seasons at the University of Texas, where he coached men's cross country and distance runners. Texas won the 2022 NCAA indoor team title, with the distance group contributing more than half of the team's points, and its distance medley relay captured the national championship with one of the fastest times in collegiate history. He was recognized as the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field National Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA. Texas also finished second at the 2022 NCAA outdoor championships. In cross country, his teams qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of his three seasons in Austin, won two South Central regional titles, and placed 14th nationally in 2021, matching the program's best NCAA finish since 2013. Across his Texas tenure, he coached 18 NCAA All-Americans, 18 NCAA track and field qualifiers, and 12 Big 12 individual champions.
