Pete Shinnick has been the head football coach at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, since the 2023 season. A Baltimore native, he arrived at Towson after a long head coaching career that included stops at West Florida, UNC Pembroke, and Azusa Pacific, and he is Towson's fifth head coach.
At Towson, Shinnick inherited the program for the 2023 season and quickly produced notable road results. In his first year, the Tigers went 5-6 overall and 4-4 in CAA play, including overtime and comeback road wins over nationally ranked New Hampshire and William & Mary. Towson finished 4-1 on the road against FCS opponents and had eight players earn All-CAA recognition. Tight end Carter Runyon became the program's first Division I All-American at his position, while KJ Brooks received Freshman All-America honors.
