Peter Pappas is an assistant coach for the George Mason University wrestling program in Fairfax, Virginia, and entered his third season on the staff in 2025. He moved into coaching after completing his final collegiate season with the Patriots in 2022-23, when he earned the team's Dan Wotring Outstanding Wrestler Award, qualified for the NCAA Championships, and posted a 24-5 record to lead George Mason in win percentage.
A Plainview, New York, native, Pappas became the first George Mason wrestler to win a MAC championship, claiming the conference title in sudden victory and giving the program its first conference champion since 2019. Before transferring to George Mason, he wrestled for three seasons at Edinboro University. He earned a bachelor's degree from Edinboro and a master's degree in sports studies and recreation from George Mason in 2023.
