Peter Kaligis is the assistant coach for defensive tackles at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he joined head coach Jake Dickert's football staff before the 2025 season. A coach with more than 30 years of experience, Kaligis arrived at Wake Forest after earlier work with Dickert at Washington State and Wyoming.
In his first season with the Demon Deacons, Wake Forest fielded one of the ACC's stronger defenses, finishing in the conference's top five in both total defense and pass defense. The unit gave up the fewest yards per play in the league, allowed the fourth-fewest total touchdowns, and cut more than 100 yards per game from the team's defensive average compared with the previous season. Wake Forest also lowered its points allowed by nearly 10.5 per game, reduced passing touchdowns allowed by nearly half, and improved its red-zone results by trimming opponents' touchdown rate by close to 20 percent. The defense produced four interceptions and 11 fumble recoveries, held seven of 13 opponents to 14 points or fewer, and recorded the program's highest number of such performances since the 2006 ACC championship season. Against ranked competition, the Deacons limited No. 19 Virginia and No. 25 SMU to 14 points or fewer, and they kept both Virginia and North Carolina out of the end zone in consecutive ACC games. Defensive tackle Jayden Loving earned honorable mention All-ACC recognition.
