Paul Reed
Associate Head Coach
Paul Reed enters his first season at Alabama A&M University as the associate head coach for the women’s basketball program, bringing extensive Division I and high school coaching experience to Huntsville. He most recently served as an assistant coach at St. Mary’s during the 2023-24 season. Prior to that, Reed spent two seasons at the University of California, Berkeley, where he worked primarily with post players, assisted with defensive schemes, and led recruiting efforts. He also served four years as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Washington, helping guide the Huskies to a Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinal appearance and mentoring three All-Pac-12 selections and 11 Pac-12 All-Academic Team honorees.
Reed previously spent three seasons at Long Beach State, where the program compiled a 69-30 record with three consecutive 20-win seasons, a 2017 Big West Tournament Championship, and an NCAA Tournament berth. Before his collegiate coaching career, he achieved significant success at the high school level in Arizona, posting a 129-63 record at Tucson High School and earning multiple Southern Arizona Coach of the Year honors. He also led Cienega High School to a 26-2 season and state runner-up finish in 2014. A former football standout at Langston University, Reed earned USA Today Small College All-American honors and later completed a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Phoenix.
