Patrick Spraggs
Assistant Coach
Patrick Spraggs is an assistant coach for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights men’s golf program, entering his second season on the Banks during the 2025–26 campaign. He joined Rutgers in February 2025 under the leadership of head coach Rob Shutte, bringing an international perspective and a diverse background in both competitive and professional golf. A native of Suffolk, England, Spraggs adds a global dimension to the program through his experience as a high-level amateur competitor and his extensive involvement in the golf industry across Europe and the United States. His arrival was marked by an immediate connection with the student-athletes, a quality that stood out throughout the interview process and aligned with Rutgers’ emphasis on player development and team culture.
Spraggs’ golf journey began in England, where he emerged as a standout amateur and represented Europe in the 2010 Palmer Cup. He was also a member of the England boys’ team at the 2009 Dutch Junior Masters. Academically and athletically, he attended the University of Stirling in Scotland, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Studies in 2013, and later gained experience competing in American collegiate golf during a season at East Tennessee State University. With more than 15 years in the golf industry, Spraggs has worked as an assistant golf professional at clubs in England and as a caddie at several prestigious clubs in the United States, including stops in Florida and Ohio. He and his wife, Nicole, reside in New Jersey with their children, Karoline and Arthur, as he continues to contribute to the growth and success of Rutgers men’s golf.
