Pat O'Connell is the associate head coach and director of roster management for Towson University men's basketball in Towson, Maryland. A Baltimore native, he is entering his 13th season with the program overall and his 10th season in his current stint. After serving six years as an assistant coach, he was promoted to associate head coach ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Since that promotion, Towson has produced one of the strongest stretches in its Division I history. The Tigers have posted four straight 20-win seasons, won their first outright CAA regular-season championship in 2024-25, and went 54-18 in conference play from the start of the 2021-22 season through 2024-25. Towson also reached the CAA semifinals in three consecutive seasons and set a school record with three straight 20-win campaigns by the end of 2023-24. In 2022-23, the team finished 25-9 and 15-3 in league play, recorded the winningest Division I and CAA season in program history, and earned an NIT berth. That season also included the best start in program history at 5-0, and O'Connell was later chosen for the Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program for Division I assistant coaches.
