Pat Kelsey is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Hired on March 28, 2024, he is Louisville's 24th head coach and entered the position after previous head coaching stops at the College of Charleston and Winthrop. Through 14 seasons as a head coach, he has compiled a 312-141 record, including a 178-70 mark in conference play, and he has led his teams to 11 conference championships and six NCAA Tournament appearances.
In his first two seasons at Louisville, Kelsey posted a 51-19 record and went 29-9 in ACC play. His debut team in 2024-25 finished 27-8 overall and tied for second in the ACC at 18-2, then advanced to Louisville's first ACC Tournament semifinal and championship game appearance before finishing as runner-up. That season, Louisville returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019, and Kelsey was named ACC Coach of the Year and a Naismith Coach of the Year semifinalist. In 2025-26, Louisville went 24-11, finished 11-7 in conference play, and recorded the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 2017 with a first-round victory over South Florida before falling to Michigan State in the Round of 32.
