Oscar Roverato
Head Coach
Oscar Roverato became the second head coach in the history of the UNC Pembroke swim program when he was officially hired on March 21, 2019, after serving as interim head coach during the 2018-19 campaign. Under his leadership the Braves have achieved impressive success—including multiple conference championships, NCAA qualifying swimmers, and dozens of All-Conference selections. For example, during the 2024-25 season the team posted a 6-1 dual-meet record, won the Conference Carolinas championship for the second straight year, and Roverato was named Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season.
Before arriving at UNCP, Roverato amassed over 30 years of coaching experience. He founded the USA Swimming-certified Fayetteville Aquatic Swim Team in 2005 and served as its owner and head coach for many years. He also held coaching roles in volleyball and tennis, and worked as an associate professor of physical education. Originally from Italy, Roverato holds a bachelor’s degree in sports science and a master’s in sports science, and is USA Swimming Level III–IV certified
