Nunzio Esposto
Head Diving Coach
Nunzio Esposto joined the Duke University swimming and diving program in the summer of 2013 as Head Diving Coach. Over his twelve-plus seasons in Durham, he has guided the Blue Devils’ divers to national prominence, producing 21 CSCAA All-America selections, 13 All-ACC honorees, one individual national champion and three individual ACC champions. His athletes consistently set program records and achieved high finishes at the NCAA Championships, solidifying Duke’s position as a top destination for diving talent.
Esposto brings a rich background of both athletic and coaching experience. As a collegiate diver at the University of North Carolina he was an All-ACC performer all four seasons, qualifying for the NCAA Zone Championships each year and competing at the NCAA Championships in 1991. Before arriving at Duke, he served in a variety of coaching roles including head diving coach at North Carolina, and has served on the USA Diving national team coaching staff (including the 2016 Olympic Games). His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical precision, individualized training and strong athlete-coach connectivity—aiming to bring out the best in both performance and character.
