Nick McDevitt serves as Head Coach for Middle Tennessee State University's Men's Basketball program in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Nick McDevitt was announced as the 20th head coach of the Middle Tennessee men’s basketball program on March 24, 2018. During his tenure, he has been tabbed the Conference USA Coach of the Year and led the Blue Raiders to a CUSA Division title, a 2025 National Invitational Tournament appearance and the finals of the 2022 CBI. Under McDevitt’s guidance, 21 student-athletes have been named to All-CUSA teams, 15 Blue Raiders have earned CUSA Player of the Week honors and Antonio Green and Essam Mostafa have been crowned the CUSA Newcomer of the Year. Heading into his eighth season in Murfreesboro, McDevitt is third all-time in games coached at MTSU with 223. He is also fourth all-time in wins (105), home wins (68) and conference wins (68).
With a strong incoming recruiting class, MTSU’s 2024-25 season got off to a strong start, with Camryn Weston and Jestin Porter being named to the Preseason All-CUSA team and a 9-4 non-conference slate. The Blue Raiders advanced to the finals of the Myrtle Beach Invitational Tournament and snagged road victories at Abilene Christian and UAB, while they closed out the non-league campaign at No. 1 Tennessee and were the first team of the season to be leading the Vols after 20 minutes of play. MTSU boasted a 12-6 record in conference play and picked up at least one road game on each road trip, including a strong sweep over New Mexico State and UTEP. Upon the conclusion of the regular season, where Middle Tennessee earned its 16th 20-win season in program history, Essam Mostafa was named 2025 CUSA Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-CUSA, Jestin Porter was named to the Second Team, Camryn Weston was voted Honorable Mention and Torey Alston earned a nod to the All-Freshman team. Advancing to the CUSA Semifinals, the Blue Raiders earned a bid to host an opening round game in the 2025 NIT. The Blue Raiders' 2023-24 campaign got off to a good start, going undefeated in their trip to Italy as part of summer training. Elias King and Camryn Weston earned Preseason All-CUSA honors and the squad was voted to finish first in the conference in the Preseason Poll. McDevitt guided MTSU to an 8-6 finish over its final 14 games, including an upset of No. 2 seed LA Tech in CUSA Championships Quarterfinals to advance to the Semifinals. MTSU finished the 2022-23 season 19-14, including a win over then-No. 25 and eventual Final Four participant Florida Atlantic at the Murphy Center on Feb. 16. The 2022-23 Blue Raiders also extended their home winning streak to 20 games before falling to Chattanooga on December 15, a streak that wound up as the fourth-longest home win streak in program history.
