Nick Brochu

Head Coach

Nick Brochu was hired in July 2007 to lead the University of South Alabama men’s tennis program, the most successful program in Sun Belt Conference history. In his first season, he guided the Jaguars to a Sun Belt Championship and a No. 51 national ranking, continuing the program’s tradition of excellence. During his tenure, Brochu has led South Alabama to multiple conference championships, including back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019, and a third consecutive championship in 2021. His teams earned NCAA Tournament victories over nationally ranked opponents, including No. 21 Memphis and No. 40 Tulane, and have achieved several top-60 national finishes. He has compiled more than 275 career victories, including over 200 at South Alabama, while mentoring numerous all-conference selections and nationally ranked singles players and doubles teams. Under Brochu’s leadership, several student-athletes have earned Sun Belt Player of the Year honors and advanced to the NCAA Individual Championships, with a doubles team earning ITA All-America status following a quarterfinal appearance in 2021. Prior to South Alabama, Brochu spent five seasons as head coach at Georgia State, leading the Panthers to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. A former collegiate standout at Georgia State, he was a three-time conference champion and competed professionally on the ATP Tour for two years. Brochu holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgia State and continues to build on South Alabama’s tradition of championship success and national competitiveness.
