Nate Mulberg
Head Baseball Coach
Nate Mulberg was appointed as the head baseball coach at Johns Hopkins University on July 1, 2025, succeeding Bob Babb following Babb’s 46-year tenure.
Prior to taking over at Hopkins, Mulberg spent eight seasons with the University of Richmond’s baseball program (2017–2025). At Richmond, his responsibilities included coaching infielders and catchers, serving as a hitting instructor, and from 2018 onward, acting as the program’s recruiting coordinator.
Under his guidance, Richmond often ranked among Atlantic 10 leaders in offensive categories, and he helped establish a national recruiting footprint drawing players from 15 states. Mulberg’s coaching trajectory also includes earlier stints at Franklin & Marshall (2015–2016) and Bucknell (late 2016). also has international experience: he has served as a coach for Team Israel (most notably as first base coach during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics).
A native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Mulberg graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester in 2014 with a degree in English and a minor in business, and went on to earn multiple advanced degrees (M.Ed., MBA, and Master of Nonprofit Management).
As a student-athlete at Rochester, he was a four-year starting shortstop, served as team captain, and batted .359 in his senior year, helping lead the program to its first-ever Liberty League Championship Game appearance.
