Nadine Domond
Head Women's Basketball Coach
Nadine Domond is an accomplished American women’s basketball coach and former professional player who, on April 9, 2025, was named the head coach of the Morgan State Lady Bears Women’s Basketball program in Baltimore, Maryland. Domond arrived at Morgan State after a highly successful stint at Virginia State University, where she led the Lady Trojans to back-to-back 20-win seasons and historic achievements, including the program’s first appearance in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament. Her 2024–25 Virginia State squad finished with a 21-5 regular season record, claimed the CIAA Northern Division title, and earned a spot in the CIAA Championship Game. For her leadership and results, she was honored as CIAA Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year and the HBCU All-Stars Lonnie Bartley NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year.
Domond’s basketball journey began as a standout player at the University of Iowa, where she excelled under Hall of Fame coach C. Vivian Stringer, became a Second Team All-Big Ten selection, won the 1997 Big Ten Championship, and competed in three NCAA Tournaments. After graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in African American World Studies and Instructional Design, she was selected 19th overall in the 1998 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty and played professionally for the Sacramento Monarchs. As a coach, her career path includes stops as a graduate assistant and assistant at Hampton, assistant at Rutgers, head coach at Grambling State (where she was named SWAC Coach of the Year), and head coach at Virginia State before taking the helm at Morgan State. Domond brings a defensive and developmental coaching philosophy and a vision to elevate the Lady Bears program’s competitive profile in Division I women’s basketball.
