Mo Smith
Head Women's Basketball Coach
Mo Smith took the helm of the women’s basketball program at Flagler College in June 2019, becoming the 19th head coach in the program’s history. Prior to joining Flagler, he spent nearly two decades at Georgia College, serving as a graduate assistant, assistant coach, and then head coach from 2010–19. During his tenure at Georgia College, he guided the program to multiple postseason appearances and accumulated 131 wins — the second-most in the school’s women’s basketball history.
Since relocating to St. Augustine, Smith has led the Saints through a rebuilding era, emphasizing academic excellence, defensive identity and incremental on-court improvement. In the 2024-25 season, the squad compiled a 13-15 record and went 9-9 in the Peach Belt Conference, with the team finishing third in the league in scoring (71.1 points per game) and free-throw percentage (75.9%). His approach combines disciplined team defense with balanced offensive play, and he has coached multiple student-athletes to all-conference honors during his tenure.Off the court, Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology (2001) and a master’s in public administration (2006), both from Georgia College. He is originally from College Park, Georgia, and is married to Martine Thomas, also a Georgia College alum. They have two daughters, Jaiden and Olivia.
