Molly Dunphey
Virginia Tech — Assistant Coach, Women’s Lacrosse
Molly Dunphey joined the Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach in July 2024 under head coach Kristen Skiera. In her inaugural season in 2025, Dunphey’s defensive guidance helped power one of the program’s most notable wins, holding 11th-ranked Syracuse to just 11 goals in an upset victory at Thompson Field. Her coaching contributed to standout defensive performances, such as Caroline Little’s 38 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers, and Zoee Stencil’s 30 ground balls with 23 caused turnovers.
A native of Ridgewood, New Jersey, Dunphey completed her playing career at Virginia Tech in spring 2024 after transferring from Villanova. Across four seasons as a defender, she appeared in 68 games and made 65 starts. At Virginia Tech, she ranked second on the team in ground balls (27) and third in caused turnovers (16) in her final season. Previously at Villanova, she served as a team captain in 2023, recording 27 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers while helping propel her team to more than double its wins from the prior season.
