Mitch Hannahs

Head Coach

Mitch Hannahs was named the eighth head baseball coach in University of South Florida history on June 8, 2024, bringing with him a distinguished record of success as both a player and coach. He arrived in Tampa after an 11-season run as head coach at Indiana State University, his alma mater, where he compiled a 355-214-1 record and guided the Sycamores to five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program’s first-ever NCAA Super Regional in 2023. A two-time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2023 and 2024, Hannahs elevated Indiana State to consistent national relevance, with multiple Top 25 rankings and back-to-back 20-win conference seasons, a feat not achieved in the league since 2007. Hannahs brings more than two decades of head coaching experience, including nine seasons at Lincoln Trail College, where he led the program to multiple conference and regional championships. His career head coaching record stands at 626-403-1, highlighted by 10 seasons of 30 or more wins and six conference titles. As a player, Hannahs was a standout at Indiana State from 1986–89, earning ABCA and Baseball America All-America honors and helping lead the Sycamores to the 1986 College World Series. A 16th-round MLB Draft pick of the Milwaukee Brewers, he played three seasons professionally before transitioning into coaching. Known for his program-building ability, player development, and sustained competitive excellence, Hannahs now leads USF Baseball with the goal of establishing the Bulls as a national contender.
