Mitchel Worthington is an assistant coach for the Oregon State volleyball program, bringing both high-level playing experience and recent collegiate coaching success to the Beavers. He joined the staff after spending two seasons at NC State, where he contributed to the program’s NCAA Tournament appearance and helped strengthen its defensive performance. At Oregon State, Worthington works closely with defensive systems and player development, leveraging his background as a collegiate libero to enhance the team’s back-row play and overall consistency.
Before entering coaching, Worthington had a standout playing career at Brigham Young University, where he ranked sixth all-time in career digs in program history. As a libero, he appeared in 119 matches and 379 sets, helping lead BYU to a dominant 17-1 season in 2020. Known for his defensive instincts and leadership on the court, he also excelled academically, earning recognition on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team. A native of Mesa, Arizona, Worthington holds a degree in business management and brings a strong combination of technical knowledge, playing experience, and mentorship to the Oregon State volleyball program.
