Mindy McCord
Head Coach
Mindy McCord was named the first head coach in University of South Florida women’s lacrosse history on May 31, 2022, bringing more than three decades of coaching experience and a national reputation as a program builder. An eight-time Conference Coach of the Year, McCord arrived in Tampa after launching and leading the Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse program to sustained national prominence. During her 13 seasons at Jacksonville, she compiled a 170–62 record, guided the Dolphins to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 runs, and established one of the most prolific offenses in NCAA history. Her teams led the nation in scoring seven times and set NCAA scoring records in both 2012 and 2018.
Across her career as a head coach in women’s lacrosse and field hockey, McCord has accumulated 326 total wins, with 21 combined regular-season and conference tournament championships. Her teams have captured conference titles in 13 seasons, including an extraordinary streak of 11 consecutive completed seasons with a championship. Equally committed to academic excellence, McCord’s programs have consistently ranked among the nation’s best in team GPA and academic honors. A Lynchburg College graduate and Hall of Fame inductee, McCord began her head coaching career at Oberlin College before rebuilding programs at McDaniel College and later Jacksonville. At USF, she leads the Bulls with an up-tempo, high-scoring philosophy, a deep investment in student-athlete development, and a clear vision to establish Tampa’s first Division I women’s lacrosse program as a national contender.
