Mike Mennenga is an assistant coach for the University of Oregon men’s basketball program, where he has been a key member of Dana Altman’s staff since the 2014–15 season. Over more than a decade with the Ducks, Mennenga has contributed to one of the most successful stretches in program history, helping Oregon win multiple Pac-12 regular-season and tournament championships while making consistent NCAA Tournament appearances. His tenure includes deep postseason runs such as the 2016 Elite Eight, the 2017 Final Four, and Sweet Sixteen appearances in 2019 and 2021. Known for his work in player development and recruiting, Mennenga has helped guide numerous student-athletes to professional careers, including more than a dozen players who have signed NBA contracts.
Prior to joining Oregon, Mennenga built a broad coaching résumé across several Division I programs. He began his coaching career at the University of Maine in 1996, contributing to a record-setting period for the program, before moving on to the University at Buffalo, where he helped engineer a dramatic turnaround in team success. His career also includes assistant coaching roles at Iowa State, Providence, and Canisius, where he was part of consecutive 20-win seasons. A former collegiate player at Morehead State, Mennenga combines playing experience with decades of coaching knowledge, making him a valuable contributor to Oregon’s sustained excellence on the national stage.
