Mike Mansfield
Assistant Coach/Director of Team Dining/CMO (Chief Morale Officer)
Mike Mansfield serves a unique and multifaceted role with the Loyola University Maryland men’s golf program. Holding the title of Assistant Coach as well as Director of Team Dining and Chief Morale Officer (CMO), he contributes to the program’s competitive and cultural success by focusing not only on on-course performance but also on team environment, nourishment, camaraderie and student-athlete wellbeing. His appointment reflects the program’s emphasis on holistic development and underscores how non-traditional support roles can be integral to athletic achievement.
In addition to his involvement with the golf team, Mansfield’s broader role at Loyola includes leadership in auxiliary operations. He serves in an executive capacity at the university as Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Operations, handling campus dining, retail, convenience services and other non-academic support functions. These overlapping responsibilities position him uniquely at the intersection of athletics, student life and institutional operations, enabling him to align athletic program needs—such as dining timing, nutrition, social bonding—with the larger campus infrastructure. From a coaching perspective, his presence on the men’s golf staff supports the lead coach through logistical, relational and performance-enhancing functions rather than traditional stroke-technique coaching alone.
