Mike Magpayo is the head men's basketball coach at Fordham University in Bronx, New York, a position he assumed in March 2025 after five seasons as head coach at the University of California, Riverside. A 2023 Big West Coach of the Year, he arrived at Fordham with an established Division I track record and quickly guided the Rams through a notable first season.
In his first year at Fordham, Magpayo led a team that had been picked to finish last in the Atlantic 10 to a 17-15 overall record and an 8-10 mark in conference play, tying for eighth place. Fordham's identity was anchored by defense, as the Rams led the Atlantic 10 and ranked 12th nationally in that category. They also finished among the league's top teams in defensive rebounding, rebounding margin, and offensive rebounds per game. His work earned national recognition, including finalist status for the Jim Phelan Award, which honors the top head coach in Division I men's basketball. He also was a finalist for the 2025-26 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award and received a 2026 NABC Guardians of the Game Pillar Award for Inclusion.
