Mike Brennan
Associate Head Coach
Mike Brennan returned to Princeton ahead of the 2025–26 season as the Ted Athanassiades ’61 Associate Head Coach for the Tigers, rejoining his alma mater after a wide-ranging Division I coaching career. He previously spent seven seasons on the Princeton staff (2000–07) under John Thompson III, helping the program win Ivy League titles and reach the postseason. Brennan’s résumé also includes four years on Thompson’s staff at Georgetown (2009–13), where the Hoyas reached the NCAA Tournament each season and earned a share of the 2013 Big East regular-season title. He then served as head coach at American University (2013–23), highlighted by a Patriot League tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2013–14, along with Patriot League Coach of the Year honors. After American, he coached at Loyola Maryland (2023–24) and Cornell (2024–25) before returning to Princeton.
A Princeton graduate (Class of 1994), Brennan was a four-year starter under Hall of Fame coach Pete Carril and earned Second Team All-Ivy recognition as a senior. Following graduation, he played professionally in Europe, gaining experience that later informed his approach to player development and team structure. Across his coaching stops, he has been part of staffs that consistently reached postseason play and helped develop high-level talent, including All-Americans during his time at Georgetown. Back in Princeton, Brennan brings a blend of Ivy League familiarity, recruiting experience, and head-coaching perspective to support Princeton’s pursuit of conference titles and NCAA Tournament success.
