Mick Hedgepeth
Head Coach
Mick Hedgepeth enters his first season as head coach of the University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s basketball program, becoming the 10th head coach in program history. He arrives at UAH following a successful tenure at Berry College, where he compiled a 44–14 record over two seasons. During his time leading the Vikings, Hedgepeth guided the team to a Southern Athletic Association Championship and an NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2023–24. He was named the SAA Coach of the Year in 2022–23 and mentored multiple all-conference and CSC Academic All-District honorees, demonstrating a strong commitment to both competitive excellence and academic achievement.
Overall, Hedgepeth brings four years of head coaching experience and an 80–32 career record, including a prior two-season stint at Sewanee. Before becoming a head coach, he served as Director of Basketball Operations at Belmont, helping the Bruins to a 77–19 record over three seasons. A standout player at Belmont from 2008–12, Hedgepeth was inducted into the Belmont Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023. He contributed to 96 wins, three conference championships, and two NCAA Tournament appearances, while earning national academic honors including the 2011 NACDA Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Hedgepeth began his coaching career as an assistant at Williams College and now leads the Chargers with a foundation built on leadership, player development, and academic success. He and his wife, Courtney, have two daughters, Harper and Lennon.
