Michelle Vittese is the head coach of Temple University's field hockey program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and enters her sixth season leading the Owls in 2026. After joining Temple's staff as an assistant coach in March 2019, she was elevated to associate head coach in December 2019, named interim head coach in August 2021, and formally took over the position that November.
Under Vittese, Temple has produced several of its strongest seasons in recent years. The Owls went 12-6 in 2025, when the team ranked second in the BIG EAST in scoring average and earned major conference honors through Peyton Rieger and Lucia Magro. Temple's freshman class also made a significant impact that season, with Magro, Mara Lenting, Kathryn Gauvin, and Lonneke Kerkhoff contributing prominently, and the team recorded notable wins over Delaware, Drexel, Richmond, and Yale. In 2024, Temple reached the BIG EAST championship game for the first time since 2015 after defeating Old Dominion in double overtime in the semifinal round. That team led the conference with seven shutouts, went unbeaten in nine home games, and built a 12-game home winning streak that carried into the following season.
